Conversion questions punish direction errors: multiplying when you should divide gives an answer that is offered as a distractor, so a wrong method still finds a matching option.
How to study it
Sanity-check the size of your answer. Converting to a smaller unit must give a bigger number. Learn the common clinical conversions cold — 1 L = 1,000 mL, 1 kg = 2.2 lb, 1 inch = 2.54 cm — because they recur constantly.

Correct answer: B. Radius = diameter ÷ 2 = 10 ÷ 2 = 5 inches. Area = πr² = 3.14 × 5² = 3.14 × 25 = 78.5 square inches.
- A. 31.4 = πd = 3.14 × 10, which is the circumference, not the area.
- C. 314 = π × 10² = 3.14 × 100, which incorrectly uses the diameter instead of the radius in the area formula.
- D. 100 = 10², which is the square of the diameter without multiplying by π.

A coin is flipped twice. What is the probability of getting heads both times?
Correct answer: B. Each flip has a 1/2 probability of heads. For independent events, multiply probabilities: 1/2 × 1/2 = 1/4. The possible outcomes are HH, HT, TH, TT — only 1 of 4 is HH.

A dataset has the values: 4, 8, 8, 10, 14, 16. What is the median?
Correct answer: B. With 6 values (even number), the median is the average of the 3rd and 4th values. Ordered: 4, 8, 8, 10, 14, 16. Median = (8 + 10) / 2 = 18/2 = 9.
- A. 8 is the 3rd value, but with an even number of data points, you must average the two middle values (3rd and 4th).
- C. 10 is the 4th value. Again, the median is the average of both middle values.
- D. 12 = (8 + 16) / 2, which averages the wrong pair of values.

What is the perimeter of a rectangle with a length of 15 meters and a width of 8 meters?
Correct answer: B. Perimeter of a rectangle = 2(length + width) = 2(15 + 8) = 2(23) = 46 m.

- C. 23 = 15 + 8, which is half the perimeter (one length + one width).

- C. 7.4 lbs is one of the individual values and also the median, not the mean.

Correct answer: B. Using the Pythagorean theorem: c² = a² + b² = 6² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100. c = √100 = 10 cm.
